From Pablo and Laura Sanchez

Hola Brothers and Sisters!
Yes, this report is a month behind schedule and our apologies but that is due to the fact that these past three months have been some of the busiest we have seen in yet. Thank you for your patience and we are excited to share what has been happening here since August! God has been moving in big ways and we are doing our best to keep up and raise up workers along side us.

So many of you know that the large part of our work is evangelism, edification and restoration, most of that work is done through personal bible studies in homes or visits. Laura and I sat down and counted it out and over the last 3 months I have been studying with 32 different people weekly in homes in one or more of those three areas. That number has never been so high before and not without its fruits.

In the last 3 months we have had 17 new baptisms glory to God. 2 in September, 13 in October, and 2 in November. September we celebrated our churches 27th year anniversary as a congregation with a big congregational dinner, we were so blessed to have Brian and Michelle visiting us from Ecuador, they blessed us by taking my wife and I to the Southern part of Chile for a 3 day couple get away which was a time of prayer, renewel and fun! What a blessing, we also have our Chilean National celebrations 18th of September where Chile celebrates it’s independence and the whole country goes on a 5 day holiday in honor of that! So there are a lot of barbeques and time together in family. But Church doesn’t stop and as our church continues to grow and the demand for my time and the other evangelists time is needed
more in outreach. Yet God in his provision has also brought more great young men willing to serve to the fore front. So in October, I offered a Lord’s supper and devotional preparation training for men in our congregation who are interested.

There was a great turn out, around 14 men of all ages showed up. Several have taken great initiative and are doing a wonderful job. The Congregation in La Villa also held there annual evangelistic campaign where I was again honored to be invited to be one of the speakers and that campaign resulted in 3 of the 17 baptisms I am happy to tell you about.

Laura has also been very busy working on a series in Genesis for our women’s ministry here in Nogales. She has given three classes and is set to give the fourth at the end of this month. The series is called “Us” looking at the relational nature of God and therefore the relational dynamic we were created for with each other and God as being image bearers. It is very exciting work and our ladies are loving it. She is also working very hard as a tutor for our girls home school community, teaching our own two girls and investing in women in our church one on one ministry needs of various women just by having them in our home and listening to them and praying with them. This year she has worked very hard in building up
new leaders for our children’s ministry and has a great group of ladies.

Report from Pedro Sanchez: Trip to Uruguay

This year we have made 3 visits to Uruguay and, if God allows us, we want to continue next year.

A few months ago the church of Christ in Uruguay invited our Evangelist in Los Nogales, Raul Diaz, to carry out an Evangelistic campaign, then Raul went again, with Daniel Albarran, who is another Evangelist fellow of La Villa Church of Christ.

For the third trip they invited to me for helping them in their biblical organization with the future elders of the church. It is practically a new church with 12 old follow church members who stayed, the other fellows are all foreigners. The church in total is composed of 60 members, They have their own Evangelist, Manuel Herrera, and the church will send him to Chile for his training and biblical preparation.

God continues to surprise us

Last month we wrote about how our R.A.D.I.C.A.L. school program came about and the growth that it has experienced moving from a simple tutoring outreach to a community wide effort. What we rejoice in seeing is the impact that our school program has on our church planting efforts. This year our youth group has grown from about fourteen teens to about twenty-seven! The incredible part is that almost all of these are unchurched young people. Only seven come from the congregations in Corquín and Potrerillos.

In the same way, our Sunday Bible class has grown. We had about four to five children who attended in Corquín with a church member parent. However, currently there are anywhere from eleven to fifteen children that come regularly to church and Bible class which is a direct result of our school program’s influence. This month, the mom of one of these children attended Sunday services with her daughter, and this is one of the reasons we are so excited about R.A.D.I.C.A.L. and the next step of growth that we are taking. It is all about reaching the lost.

In October we also mentioned our plans to double the number of children reached by R.A.D.I.C.A.L. But this month, after meeting with the director of Education for Corquín, we developed a plan with his backing to teach EVERY child in the municipality of Corquín from kindergarten through high school. We are anticipating nearly 1,900 children! Can you imagine? This is our version of “leave no child behind!” We have the funds to begin this work, but not to see it through. Will you step out in faith with us? We are confident that God is faithful and that He will find a way for us. We are also confident in the faithfulness and generosity of those reading this exciting news. We are praying that you will be a part of the answer to how we will fund this important work.

Prayer requests for Susana Homes

Susana Homes in Nigeria

This year marks 25 years of Southside’s partnership with Susana Homes. With Kay Price taking a yearly trip to visit and encourage while also doing medical clinics in the prison and villages, Southside has maintained an annual presence in the lives of “Mama” Chi, the staff and the children. Overseen by Right Steps here in the U.S., Susana Homes has been serving the children, women and general population around Port Harcourt, Nigeria, for 25 blessing-filled years!!

Check out Susana Homes at https://www.rightsteps.org/ or on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/rightsteps.

A Note from Chi with Prayer Requests

Beloved of God,

We came close to losing our home and our work here in Nigeria this past year and a half!

But our all-knowing father-in heaven has changed our hardship into a harvest of praise!

In the near future, we will have another campus of Susana Homes, closer to town, and continue to serve the orphans, the needy, and all those who thirst and hunger for the love and light of God! We couldn’t ask for more!

However; we continue to seek His divine guidance specifically for the new endeavors and the outreach efforts farther away and beyond our immediate environment.

We pray for God’s divine guidance as we receive the first batch of students, in January, and into The Jan & Sue Blackwell Institute of Biblical Studies and Christian Living Center.

We ask prayers for the commencement of The Right Steps Institute of Management and Technology, Right Steps and Susana Homes efforts at equipping our young for a life of purpose!

We ask for prayers for the dedicated men and women who have joined our ranks in recent days and whom God is going to use to start this new phase of our work here in Nigeria!

More than anything else, pray God to keep us humble, serving, open, and ready for the new challenges that we are certain lurk in the future.

Pray for divine blessings on all those that our Father uses to keep this work going in one form or another!

Something More Youth Ministry

Report from Steve Talliaferro in Croatia about the “Something More” youth ministry.

Back to School, And Back Together

School started again in Croatia on September 4. With the start of school also comes the start of our regular youth meetings for the school year, after the summer break when everyone flees to the coast.

We kicked things off with a great gathering at my house the Saturday after school started. The photo above shows us praying over the 18 teens who came that evening. We are so excited that after summer activities and camps, we have more teens in these meetings than ever. Last Friday evening we had close to 20 teens. Praise the Lord!

We had a great lesson about how we know what love is (Jesus showed us this); how we know that somebody really loves us; and how others know we really love them. We had great discussion groups, worship together, food (of course), and in the end a time of fellowship.

Pray for this group to be consistent in coming throughout the year, to bring their friends, and ultimately to be drawn to Jesus through these times together. – Steve

Southside is sending Ron Matar and Kevin Wooten to Cebu in the Philippines to teach at the annual Ministers Forum at Cebu Bible College

Please pray for their safety and for the Lord to give them strength as they not only speak to all the ministers and students but also provide encouragement for all with whom they come in contact.
