Children at Susana Homes, Nigeria

Partnering to walk with Christ as we serve the women and children of southeast Nigeria.

Susana Homes

Susana Homes consists of the residential facilities in Nigeria that receive children from birth to teens, rescuing them from a situation of being orphaned, destitute or some state of homelessness.

The majority of the home’s efforts are for small children whose mothers have died during childbirth and whose fathers are unable to supply the necessary supplement to care for them. There are also several other children who have been totally abandoned or orphaned, seriously ill, or in some way at risk.

At Susana Homes, these children are cared for and are provided food, clothing, shelter, medical treatment, education and spiritual guidance. Currently, there are 70 children on the 26-acre property known as Susana Homes.

A number of women also live at Susana Homes, and they are provided with basic needs as well as basic skills training that will help them re-enter society with confidence, experience, knowledge and skills.

Susana Homes has become a light in the community, known as a place of rescue and hope.

Since 1998, someone has gone from Southside to Nigeria every year to serve alongside Chi and staff of Susana Homes.

Dr. Chi Ekwenye Hendricks

Starting with a dream to give a new pair of shoes to every person in her village, Chi has been on a trip led by the Spirit to show Christ to the people of her native land.

Educated in the U.S., Chi started working with Right Steps in 1998, helping to establish the program that has now become a beacon of hope for all in that part of Nigeria. Chi’s love for God and her desire to serve and uplift others spill over into the orphanage, the school and to the many outreach projects of this ministry.
