CBC Mission

Cebu Bible College is overseen and funded by the Church of Christ. Its purpose is to train and equip men and women to be able to effectively communicate the Word of God through preaching (men), teaching and life example, thus winning souls for Christ.

Its secondary purpose is to edify the local and national church by equipping evangelists and ministers for teaching, leadership and service.

CBC does this in multiple ways:

  1. Teaching and promoting sound Bible study methods and exposition.
  2. Service and evangelism to local communities through weekend evangelism.
  3. Providing opportunities on and off campus for students to grow into young servant-leaders.

All freshmen are given a full scholarship to attend CBC. They must maintain a grade point average of 2.5 to keep this scholarship.

Doctrinal statement

The faculty and staff of Cebu Bible College share the conviction that the Bible is God’s authoritative revelation, and that God inspired the very words of the apostles and prophets who wrote the Holy Scriptures (1 Corinthians 2:13).

Whether in the pulpit or the classroom, it is CBC’s aim to convey the truths of the Scriptures as they were intended (Eph. 4:14 -16), emphasize what they emphasize (Matt. 23:23; 22:35 – 40); then equip faithful men to do the same (2 Tim. 2:2).

At CBC, we believe wholeheartedly in following the example of the noble Bereans (Acts 17:11) in challenging students to continually study Scripture. We teach and uphold the truth that the Bible is God’s inspired Word (2 Tim. 3:16), which we must diligently study, obey and pass on to others (Matt. 7:21; 28:18-20).

Our campus

Cebu Bible College is situated on an almost 4,000 square meter lot within a quiet, peaceful area. Full-time students are housed in a comfortable dormitory, where scholars receive free meals, board and lodging.

CBC campus grounds include a kitchen, dining area, an extensive library and computer lab. Students at CBC also enjoy the free use of a volleyball court, basketball court and table tennis, courtesy of the Talamban Church of Christ. We believe the beauty of fun of our campus speaks for itself!

Dormitory

How much does it cost?

All full-time students receive an automatic full scholarship for their entire freshman year. This includes three meals a day, room and board and all classes and exams, totally free!

But it gets even better. Any full-time enrolled student who maintains a grade point average of 2.5 or higher each semester after their freshman year is automatically eligible to retain their full scholarship until graduation!

Who can attend?

Young men and women who have graduated from Senior High School (Grade 12) may enroll at CBC! Men may opt for either the BA or AA degree, while women have their own Associate of Arts degree program.

Courses of study

Bachelor of Arts in Bible and Ministry

With this degree, young men are thoroughly equipped. They will be challenged to grow beyond what they thought they could do into ministers capable of serving, helping to lead, and plant new churches.

Associate of Arts in Bible and Ministry

A degree for those wanting to sharpen their skills and knowledge as a servant of God. This degree is also available for women, with specific classes just for them.

Operations

Operating expenses

In order to stay competitive and attract students, CBC must provide scholarships to its students because the Philippine government provides free college tuition at some of the universities.

The CBC operating budget includes salaries for four full-time teachers, an office manager/bookkeeper and two cooks. A couple of part-time teachers are paid a small stipend. The school also has typical expenses for electricity, water, internet and food for the students.

Evangelistic training

Another expense is the weekly evangelism travel budget. CBC students are assigned to different churches on the island to be mentored by the minister and help them with evangelistic Bible studies and Sunday services.

Students leave campus on Friday at noon and return on Sunday afternoon. CBC pays for their transportation each week and the church provides the student a place to stay and food.

Students are also required to do field work each summer. This evangelistic field work can be anywhere on the island of Cebu, Philippines, and CBC pays for the transportation.

During the first half of 2022, there were more than 50 baptisms associated with this weekend evangelism and summer field work.
